Forest Designs - Septic Design and Shoreland Permits

Services
Quite simply, we design septic systems and prepare shoreland permits
Septic Design
Forest Designs specializes in both new construction and the replacement of failed septic systems. For new construction projects, we are typically the very first contractor on site—an approved septic design is required before a building permit can be issued. Beyond designing the septic system itself, we assist clients with siting the house on the property, carefully considering features such as walk-out basements, garage placement, grading, and overall layout to ensure the best possible use of the land.
Septic design can be a complex puzzle, shaped by state regulations, soil conditions, space limitations, and required setbacks from wells, wetlands, and property lines. Each property presents its own challenges, and our experience allows us to creatively and responsibly work within these constraints. We take pride in finding practical solutions that respect both regulatory requirements and the unique character of each site.
When possible, we also work around personal and aesthetic considerations that matter to our clients. Whether it’s preserving a sacred tree, accommodating an existing pool, respecting a beloved pet’s resting place, or maintaining the overall look and feel of the property, we strive to design systems that fit seamlessly into the landscape while meeting all technical and environmental standards.
Shoreland Permitting
In 2008, we expanded our services to include shoreland permitting through the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services Shoreland Program. Since then, we have become specialists in this area, helping property owners navigate the additional regulations and permitting requirements that apply to shoreland properties. Our experience with DES standards and site conditions allows us to guide projects efficiently from design through approval, giving clients confidence that they have met all environmental protections while keeping their projects moving forward.
